A Season Three Release Boasts Ten More Episodes, The Winter Special, And More Great Guest Stars
As we're already into Season Three of the IFC hit series "Portlandia," I'll just let you know what comes with the DVD release before I speak about the show itself. Most likely, you are already familiar with the idea behind the Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen sketch show, so this will save you some time if you are only interested in whether or not the DVD/Blu-ray are worth the investment.
The two disc set features the ten regular episodes of Season Three plus the Winter Special that aired a few weeks before the season began properly on IFC. In essence, therefore, there are eleven self-contained shows for approximately 4 hours of programming in total.
Included on DVD/Blu-ray:
Winter Special: Winter in Portlandia
Regular episodes: (1) Take Back MTV, (2) Missionaries, (3) Nina's Birthday, (4) Squiggleman, (5) Off the Grid, (6) The Temp, (7) Soft Opening, (8) Alexandra, (9) No-Fo-O-Fo-Bridge and (10) Blackout
Bonus Features: 2...
The Funniest Show on TV
Portlandia is brilliant fun. Fred Armisen is a comedic genius. Don't miss a single episode from the beginning, especially the one about going to the farm to see where the organic chicken at the restaurant was raised.
Still funny but the commercials are NOT welcome
The reason I am giving this season 1 star is not related to the shows content. As usual, Portlandia delivers non-stop laughs poking fun at the NW. I am giving this 1 star because there are COMMERCIALS in this content! Granted, they are annoying 30 second IFC ad spots for upcoming new shows, but they are still commercials. It started the same way with my old cable provider and their on-demand content. First it was these ad spots for upcoming shows, then full blown commercials. Dear Amazon.com, I am NOT paying a premium for you to stream episodes with commercials! I find this very disappointing and will likely not purchase this content in the future.
